Karma Yoga

Karma yoga means “yoga of action.” The concept of karma yoga has its origins in the Bhagavad Gita text . In its traditional sense, karma yoga is the act of selfless service as part of a path to enlightenment.

However, karma yoga need not only be practiced as part of a quest for personal enlightenment and can be applied, in a very practical sense, to daily living. Service and contributions that help better humanity, the universe, etc. are also ways of practicing karma yoga.

Actions ranging from volunteering time to a cause, donating goods, recycling and composting, are also actions of service. As we approach the holidays and look to connect with giving, practicing karma yoga can be a rewarding option for this pursuit.

Om Shanti Peace!
