tforbearance-yoga

I had the pleasure of hearing the Dalai Lama lecture on the Buddhist concept of Bodhicitta and the subject of forbearance.

To paraphrase his lecture from my notes, he shared:

“…because I am able to practice forbearance, my enemy should reap the benefits, because they caused/initiated me into my practice. Though my enemy does not have the intention to benefit me, I should be thankful to them.”

In practice, forbearance is in line with yoga philosophy of maintainng a present mind and using your presence of mind to put into practice peace and empathy. I found this lecture so profound, I wanted to share it.

Shanti.
